We know why you stopped.
You finished school. You wanted to do hotel management. Then you saw the fees.
Maybe your father said “we will see next year.” Maybe you took any small job instead. Maybe you are still waiting.
Here is what nobody tells you: the hotel industry is short of people exactly like you. India needs between one lakh and one and a half lakh newly trained hospitality professionals every single year. Hotels are opening in Durgapur, Asansol, Siliguri, Bhubaneswar, Ranchi, Patna — everywhere.
The industry has the jobs. You have the willingness. Only the fee stood in between.
SEVA removes the fee.
Three steps. Thirteen months. One career.
What happens after twelve months
You will not be an untrained fresher hoping somebody gives you a chance. You will be a certified professional with a year of real hotel experience and a written performance record — more than most hospitality graduates hold on the day they pass out.
₹18,000 – ₹20,000
per month, the typical starting range for certified candidates with one year of hotel experience — along with duty meals, uniform, PF and ESI, and a share of service charge and tips where they apply. Many properties also help with staff accommodation.
Your actual salary depends on the city, the brand, the department and your own performance. We do not promise a fixed salary — nobody honestly can. What we prepare you for is being genuinely employable.
Captain → Senior Captain → Restaurant Supervisor → Assistant Manager. In housekeeping: Senior Attendant → Floor Supervisor → Executive. Add cruise lines, airlines, international hotel chains and QSR brands, and the ceiling is far higher than most people imagine — especially for somebody who started early and never stopped.
Updated industry modules — not a syllabus from ten years ago
Most hospitality courses teach from books written before the guest ever carried a smartphone. Ours are built from what partner hotels tell us they are actually short of, and refreshed every intake.
Assessed, not just attended. Your daily work is logged, your supervisor scores you every month, and you sit a final trade test and viva before certification. Partner hotels may also add their own brand-standard training during your foundation month.
You will be looked after there.
Let us talk about the thing your mother is actually worried about. She is not worried about your syllabus. She is worried about her child going away to a hotel in another city, and whether anyone there will treat you decently. That is a fair worry, and here is our answer to it.
Your day has a limit
Your shift is capped at nine hours, and you get a full day off every week. A young person who walks into a hotel job alone often ends up working twelve-hour days because nobody is counting. Here somebody is counting — your hours are recorded, visible to us and to the hotel’s HR.
If you stay late, you are paid for it
Hotels are busy places and some evenings run long. When they do, those extra hours are calculated from your digital duty record and paid to you. Not as a favour. Not only if you remember to ask. Automatically.
You are fed, dressed and covered
Duty meals while you are on shift. Your uniform. Insurance and medical cover. You will never be put on hazardous work.
You are safe, and you have somewhere to go
Full protection against harassment of any kind applies to you, and you always have a second door — us. If anything at all is wrong, you can reach the Institute directly instead of having to raise it with the hotel.
You are a student, not a labourer
You remain an enrolled student of this institute for all twelve months, and your time at the property is assessed coursework, not a casual job. We chose that structure deliberately, and it shapes how you are treated.
Nothing is left to trust alone
All of this forms part of the formal agreement between the Institute and every partner hotel before a single student is placed there. You will see it, and so will your parents, before you decide anything.
We are looking for attitude, not affluence.
We have taught students from West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Assam since 2007. We know what a determined student from a modest home can become. We have watched it happen for eighteen years.
Why waiting for next year costs you more than you think
Seats are counted, not open
Each batch is built around the actual manpower plan of our partner hotels — usually ten to twenty scholars per property. When a roster is full, it is full.
Hotel HR interviews you first
Selection is joint. A seat is confirmed only after screening, interview, medical fitness and family counselling. That takes time, so early applicants hold the real advantage.
A year of waiting is a year of everything
₹72,000 you did not earn. A fee still unpaid. Twelve months of experience somebody else now has and you do not. In this industry the person who starts at eighteen is a supervisor by the time the person who started at twenty-one is still learning the tray.
The doors are open right now
Branded hotels are expanding into smaller cities faster than they can staff them. That shortage is your opportunity — and shortages do not last forever.
Asking costs you nothing. Enquiry, counselling and an eligibility check are free, with no obligation whatsoever.
Straight answers
How much money will actually reach my hand each month?
₹6,000, every month, for twelve months. On top of that, your course fee is cleared month by month while you train, so tuition never has to come from home. You and your parent or guardian see the full arrangement in writing and sign it before you join.
What exactly do I pay, and when?
One payment of ₹10,000, made once, before your training month begins. It covers your registration, your month of training, and your food and accommodation for that month. There is nothing to pay after it — not to us, and not to anyone else.
₹10,000 is a lot for my family. Is there any help?
Please talk to us before you rule it out. Come in or call, tell an admissions counsellor your situation honestly, and ask what is possible. We would far rather have that conversation than lose a student who would have done well.
How long will I work each day?
Your shift is capped at nine hours, with one full day off every week. Your hours are recorded digitally, and any hours you work beyond your shift are paid.
Is this a job or a course?
A course, with twelve months of paid, supervised work built into it. You remain an enrolled student throughout, and those twelve months are assessed as part of your qualification.
What certificate do I actually get?
A Diploma from the School of Hospitality & Management, plus a skills certificate recording the departments you served, the competencies you attained and the hotel where you trained. Your training follows updated industry modules built with partner-hotel input and refreshed every intake.
Which hotel will I go to?
You are placed with one of our partner hotels or resorts, matched to your department and your assessment during the training month. Your specific property is confirmed to you in writing before you join — you will know exactly where you are going and for how long.
Do I need a smartphone?
Yes. The scholar app is how you log your work, attend classes, see your scores and reach your mentor. Any basic Android phone with an internet connection will do. If this is a difficulty, tell us — we will help you work it out.
Will I definitely get a job at ₹18,000–20,000?
That is the typical entry range for certified candidates with a year of hotel experience, and it is what we prepare you for. We provide active placement support and your hotel gets first option to hire you — but we do not issue written salary or job guarantees, and we would advise you to be careful of any institute that does.
What if something goes wrong at the hotel?
One tap on the scholar app reaches your faculty mentor and the Institute, answered within 48 hours. You also have a direct phone line to us at any time. You are never alone at that property.
Can I continue studying afterwards?
Yes. Many scholars go on to our Bachelor Degree or Post Graduate programmes while working. Your SEVA year counts.
My parents are worried. Can they meet you?
Please bring them. We hold structured family counselling for every candidate before admission — we insist on it. Visit the campus, see the labs, meet current students, ask us anything. Come without an appointment if you like.
The labs scholars train in
Food production, food & beverage service, front office and housekeeping — on the Durgapur campus, before the hotel placement begins.
The SEVA Hospitality Scholar Programme is a curriculum-integrated training programme of the School of Hospitality & Management, Durgapur, delivered with partner hospitality organisations.
Scholars participate as enrolled student trainees, not as employees of the partner organisation. From the monthly training stipend payable by the partner organisation, ₹6,000 is paid to the scholar each month and the balance is applied towards the scholar’s course fee, under a written consent letter signed by the scholar and counter-signed by a parent or guardian before deployment. Working hours are capped at nine hours per shift with one weekly off, and hours worked beyond the rostered shift are paid at the rate agreed between the Institute and the partner organisation. The one-time payment of ₹10,000 covers registration and the foundation training month including food and accommodation, and is payable before the training month begins.
Salary figures for post-programme employment are indicative of typical market ranges and vary by city, brand, role and individual performance. The College provides assured placement, industrial training and a training stipend to scholars on this programme; the specific terms, including the placement and stipend applicable to you, are confirmed in writing in your admission offer letter. Batch size, deployment location and batch dates are confirmed in writing in the admission offer letter. This programme is separate from, and not combinable with, the College’s Corporate Scholarship fee concession unless expressly stated in your admission offer letter. Nothing on this page affects your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
No agent, consultant or third party is authorised to promise, sell or negotiate admission to this programme or to collect fees on our behalf. Pay only into the College’s official bank account, or at the campus against an official receipt — never into a personal account.
